Rainforest-shrinks.org - Every second, the rainforest gets smaller

On the earth an area of about 8 Million square kilometers is covered with rainforest. Every day over 30000 hectare rainforest are destroyed. That are 4000 square meters every second. Every pixel on this site symbolizes an area of one hectare rainforest, and every second 0.4 hectares get lost. The brown area on this site shows the loss of rainforest since the launch of this website on April 19th 2007.

For the conservation of rainforest you can for example donate to one of these foundations:
World Land Trust
WWF
Rainforest Concern
Rainforest Foundation US
